Journey to Excellence & Unit Awards

Journey To Excellence
"Scouting's Journey to Excellence" is Scouting America's performance recognition program designed to encourage and reward success and measure the performance of our units, districts, and councils. It encourages excellence in providing a quality program at all levels of Scouting America. Assessment for Journey to Excellence (JTE) is based on the calendar year (begins on Jan 1st and ends on Dec 31st).

Troop 648 regularly tracks and assesses its program against the JTE metrics.

Check back to this webpage for updates and news related to Troop 648's JTE.
The Troop 648 JTE lead is listed in the "Contact the Leaders" webpage.

Troop 648 has its own Unit ID # which is 82639
The only reasons this number is used are as follows:
-
Logging into the JTE website to update information on JTE
-
Logging into the NCAC website to log in Eagle Scout Project Hours. Which is also used for JTE.
OA Unit of Excellence Award
For over 100 years, the Order of the Arrow (OA) has recognized Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. This recognition provides encouragement for others to live these ideals as well. Arrowmen are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit, promoting year-round and long term resident camping, and providing cheerful service to others. OA service, activities, adventures, and training for youth and adults are models of quality leadership development and programming that enrich and help to extend Scouting to America's youth.

The OA Unit of Excellence Award criteria recognize units that invite the lodge to:
- conduct quality unit elections
-
participate in lodge events and meetings, and
-
operate a complete OA Unit Representative program.
Troop 648 earned this award in 2019. See attached certificate.

The lead for earning this award is the Troop 648 OA Representative. This Scout is listed in the "Troop Roster and Info" spreadsheet.

National Outdoor Challenge Unit Award
This Scouting America award encourages troops to do more outdoor trips and long-term camping, have an annual program plan, have an activity with a Webelos den, conduct a Leave No Trace program, and teach outdoor-related merit badges.
