Journey to First Class

Scouting's founder, Robert Baden-Powell, wanted a First Class Scout to be the complete outdoorsman. Originally, First Class was the final and highest rank in Scouting. In keeping with Baden-Powell's vision, Troop 648's goal is to have every Scout earn the rank of First Class.

In order to help Scouts earn First Class – the Troop will occasionally incorporate rank requirement activities from the Scout through First Class in Troop meetings. These activities are coordinated by the Scoutmaster, but instruction will be partly lead by older Scouts, teaching younger Scouts in accordance with the ‘Scouts-led’ philosophy.

Scouts will use the rank requirement sheets located in the back of their Scout Book to track their advancement towards First Class. Patrol Leaders or First Class Scouts or higher will sign off on completed requirements. If you miss a class or would like to learn or re-learn an activity - please use the worksheets below as well as the online spreadsheet. You can also contact your Patrol Leader or Senior Patrol Leader for help.
